OREANDA-NEWS. September 15, 2008. The activities to develop one of the youngest regions of the country – Dovletli in the Lebap Velayat are expanded with every passing day. The settlement of Jeyhun turns into the administrative center of the etrap. A number of the construction projects – the social and cultural facilities including the buildings of the Etrap Khyakimlik and various establishments and institutions, apartment houses have been launched there. The etrap established in accordance with the Resolution of President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov in the virgin lands on the right bank of the Amu Darya River has recently marked the first birthday with putting newly constructed apartment houses into operation. At present, Dovletly is preparing for the new construction premieres to be presented on the eve of the 17th anniversary of independence of Turkmenistan.

The projects to be completed in 2009 include a housing estate with two-storey cottages, the cultural centre with the 200-seat auditorium, the motor roads, the buildings of the 320-seat school and the kindergarten for 90 children are to be put into operation in 2009. At present, 20 facilities are under construction by the Lebapgurlushik Production Association as well as the other local construction departments.

The foreign contractors actively contribute to developing the region. Turkish Elmatash Inshaat implements the project on construction of the two-storey administrative building of the Etrap telecommunication agency. The agency will provide the local population with an access to the modern communication systems including cellular communications and the internet. Paramount importance is attached to establishment of transport and engineering infrastructure in the etrap that is a priority in the President’s Programme on improvement of the social and living conditions in rural areas.

To develop agricultural sector, particularly arable farming is a priority task for the Dovletli Etrap. The vast virgin lands occupy a major part of the region. Therefore, paramount importance is attached to development of virgin lands and land improvement. Since the beginning of 2008 hundreds of hectares of the ploughed fields have been sown with agricultural crops. The project aimed at developing 1,800 hectares in the Tallymerjen tract of lands has been completed. Within the next several months the land reclamation experts of the Lebapsuvhojalyk Production Association will start the complex works in the areas. In the near future these areas will turn into the zone for cultivating grain crops, cotton, vegetables.

Development of the 30,000-hectare Yulangyz tract of land on the right bank of the Amu Darya River will create powerful incentive for local social and economic development. The rest of the territory will be developed in the near future. All these measures and land reclamation activities along with the use of advanced technologies will enable to reap rich harvests there. After reconstruction the Yulangyz irrigation canal will uninterruptedly supply water to the region.

Thus, the new life has come on the right bank of the Amu Darya River with the Dovletly Etrap. Local agricultural workers have started the cotton picking campaigns and to sow winter crops on the 13,000-hectare plantations. Local people say that they have big plans for the future.
