Balance of Trade Deficit of Moldova Rises by 56,1%
OREANDA-NEWS. September 10, 2008. According to the National Statistics Office’s data that doesn’t cover export and import operations of Transnistrian enterprises, the level of coverage of import by export made up 32.2% against 36.9% in January-July 2007.
Moldovan export volume in January-July 2008 totaled USD 894.3 mln., up 26.5% against the same period last year.
The amount of import to Moldova totaled USD 2 bln. 779.8 mln., having exceeded indicators of the same period last year by 45.2%. The volume of export to the CIS countries rose by 22.4% - to USD 346.2 mln.
Moldovan production supplies to the EU states for the same period of time increased by 32% to USD 466.2 mln. Import from CIS states increased by 39.1% - to USD 972.7 mln., that from European Union states - by 40.7% to USD 1 bln. 234.2 mln.
The deficit of the balance of trade with EU states totaled USD 768 mln, that with CIS states - USD 626.5 mln.
The biggest deficit of the balance of trade in January-July 2008 was with Ukraine (USD 397.3 mln.), Russia (USD 174.1 mln.), Germany (USD 169.9 mln.), Romania (USD 164.4 mln.), China (USD 163.6 mln.), Turkey (USD 119.2 mln.), Italy (USD 85.9 mln.), Belarus (USD 69.3 mln.).
