Liublinsko-Dmitrovskaya Line Launched Eight-Car Trains
OREANDA-NEWS. September 9, 2008. One extra car is going to be added to the train sets running on the Liublinsko-Dmitrovskaya line in September. Consequently, all trains operating between Mariino and Trubnaya stations will consist of eight cars by the end of the year. Additional cars will help to increase line capacity; it’s especially important due to the fact that the line is becoming more popular with passengers after the inauguration of new stations there. Once Dostoevskaya and Mariina Roshcha stations are opened for passengers, the Liublinsko-Dmitrovskaya line will be even busier.
The Liublinsko-Dmitrovskaya line was initially intended for eight-car trains, but as the line was not very loaded, seven-car trains could cope with traffic quite well. However, after analysing passenger flow, the authorities of Moscow metro decided to add an extra car to each train set.
Almost all metro lines have seen the increase in the number of cars in train sets, but further extension of train sets on most lines is limited by platform length.
