OREANDA-NEWS. September 9, 2008. Power Machines and Rosenergoatom Concern FSUE signed contracts for modernization of equipment for Novovoronezhskaya NPP and Volgodonskaya NPP. The total proce of the projects makes about 670 million Rubles.

Power Machines will modernize turbine generator of 500 MW capacity of Electrotyazhmash production (Kharkov, Ukraine) for Novovoronezhskaya NPP. The scope of works includes development, manufacture and delivery of a new stator, excitation system in complete with the exciter and technological control systems for the turbine generator within the 5th power unit of the plant. The term of the delivery: 2nd quarter of 2009.

The modernized turbine generator is planned to be commissioned in 2010. The modernization will lead to an essential growth of the plant’s efficiency.

Power Machines will conduct repair and renovation works and final completing of turbogenerator of 1000 MW capacity of a power unit No.2 which is under construction for Volgodonskaya NPP. The term of the delivery: 2nd quarter of 2009.

Earlier from 1986 to 1990 Electrosila, branch of Power Machines, manufactured two turbogenerators of 1000 MW each for the 1st and the 2nd power units of Volgodonskaya NPP and the 1st one had been already delivered to the site.

It was decided in 1998 to resume the construction works at the plant and Power Machines from 1999 to 2001 conducted repair and renovation works of the turbine generator of the 1st power unit of the plant. The turbine generator has been successfully operated up to now.

Upon the repair and renovation works of the turbine generator of the 2nd power unit the plant will be equipped with a new million-turbogenerator with operating life of 30 years. The 2nd power unit of Volgodonskaya NPP is planned to be commissioned in the end of 2009 which will let supply electrical power to North Caucasus and to the central areas of Russia.
