Plasma- Progress Experiment Successfully Conducted
OREANDA-NEWS. September 9, 2008. Today the mission of the Progress M-64 cargo vehicle was completed.
Plasma-Progress experiment was carried out during the autonomous mission of the cargo vehicle. The experiment is aimed as studying spatio- temporal parameters of the plasma density in the Progress external environment; the plasma is generated by the operations of the Progress liquid-propellant thrusters.
Incoherent dissipation radar provided by the Russian Institute of Solar and Earth Physics (Irkutsk) was used for ground radio observations.
Plasma- Progress experiment is developed by TsNIIMASh (Korolev, Moscow region). Similar experiments were conducted during Progress M-60 and Progress M-62 missions, during autonomous flights of these vehicles after departure from the ISS.
