OREANDA-NEWS. September 05, 2008. Hansabank will be recognizing outstanding students in Estonia for the third year by giving out 5 IT, 15 economics and 10 educational grants. The value of each grant is 20,000 kroons, reported the press-centre of Hansabank. 

Ulla Ilisson, Managing Director of Retail Banking in Hansabank, says that in addition to the applicant's success in studies the bank also considers their wish to contribute to the development of society. “We expect them to be committed to their chosen specialties and have the drive to be successful,” added Ilisson.

Outstanding students who are at least in their second year of studies in the Tallinn University of Technology, University of Tartu and the IT College can apply for the IT grant. The economics grant is open to outstanding students in specialties associated with the area of finance in the Tallinn University of Technology, University of Tartu and the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga.

The educational grant is aimed at students of professional higher education, bachelor’s study or master's study who study in Estonia or abroad irrespective of the institution of higher education or specialty. Outstanding study results and social activity are the main selection criteria.

Hansabank will give out 30 grants in a total amount of 600,000 kroons.

Hansabank has been cooperating with universities and issuing its grants for many years. The bank has also supported the publication of economics textbooks and the development of SAIS, the Admission Information System of institutions of higher education. Hansabank also supports different student organisations that organise conferences aimed at young people.
