According to Yulia Tymoshenko, the country found itself in a rather disquieting situation in pharmaceutical area which is tied to ungrounded growth of prices for medical products in use among socially unprotected population levels.
The Head of Government sees the reason of such situation in absence of an effective state system of control, monitoring, analysis and influence on forming prices and quality of medical products. So, Yulia Tymoshenko stressed on immediate strengthening of state regulation of price-forming for pharmaceuticals.
At this, Premier aired experience of a series of states in which exist two models of state regulating of prices, either direct state regulation or comparative monitoring of prices for medicines in the neighbouring countries. “In Ukraine price regulation is conducted through a mechanism of trade extra charges which range 10 to 30%. Unfortunately, this mechanism is rather not flawless,” Yulia Tymoshenko informed and added, that existing system is a base for corruption activities.
The head of Government suggested the meeting’s participants to build an efficient system of partnership between the authorities and private structures in pharmaceutical market which would ensure control over the prices and development of the branch.
“We must and are obliged to build a system of partnership which will guarantee absolutely moderate prices for medical products, their quality and, at the same time, will facilitate to the development of pharmaceutical branch in Ukraine which proves an integral part of health of our citizens and prosperity of our state,” Yulia Tymoshenko emphasized.
