Primorie Asks to Extend Term of Gaming Business Operation
OREANDA-NEWS. September 5, 2008. A session of the Committee on Regional Politics and Lawfulness took place in Legislative Assembly of Primorie region. In particular, the Committee members considered the issue of gaming business operation within Primorie. The regional administration asks Legislative Assembly to submit to the State Duma an initiative on extending the term of gaming business operation within Primorie till 2012.
According to the federal legislation, as of July 2009 gaming business can operate only in the zones specially allocated for its activities. Four zones have been determined in Russia, and one of them is to be created within Primorie region. However, the region will not manage to set up the zone during the term set by the law.
To support its decision, Primorie`s executive authorities report that gaming business generates 500 million rubles a year for the regional budget and provides employment opportunities for 1.5 thousand people. The region will lose considerable amounts of money unless the term of operation for local casinos and slot halls is extended.
The deputies decided to prepare a proper appeal for the State Duma, as reported by the official website of Legislative Assembly of Primorie region.
