OREANDA-NEWS. September 5, 2008. Tornado Modular Systems has shipped equipment for Tornado-M DCS for Tomskaya GRES-2 power plant. In September 2007, the company launched this project which included engineering, production and procurement of the system, installation supervision, commissioning and personnel training. SibCOTES, its Tomsk Branch provided engineering for C&I lower level. Electro-hydraulic control system has been made in cooperation with Karagandinsky Turbomechanical Plant (Kazakhstan).
 
Information and control system at Tomskaya GRES-2 provides full-scale automated process control for turbine unit No.2 and some BOP units. Automated facility comprises turbine unit, model Т-50/60-8,8 manufactured by LMZ with generator TF-63-2UZ made by ELSIB, as well as a plant-make-up unit for heating network.
 
New turbine T-50 will replace an old 29 MW turbine that has been in operation for over half a century. The plant capacity will increase by 20% after the turbine installation. Additional 106 GKcal/h of heat will be produced when generating 50 MW of electricity.
 
Large-scale rehabilitation of Tomskaya GRES-2 will improve heat supply reliability for Vostochny and Solnechny residential areas in Tomsk, guarantee heat supply for more end-users, and in particular, for Technology Development special economic zone.
