OREANDA-NEWS. September 5, 2008. Belorusneft Company will launch the production of biofuel in 2009, Valentin Babok, the head of the agriculture and foodstuffs committee of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee, told a press conference on September 4.

According to him, the biofuel will be produced in the agricultural company Osobino which is one of Belorusneft’s subdivisions. The company will launch the plant which will produce 30 thousand tonnes of rape oil a year. Then, this oil will be mixed with diesel fuel. The company intends to produce 100 thousand tonnes of biofuel which will be supplied to the neighboring farms. The investments in the new production facility will make up no less than Br15 billion.

According to Valentin Babok, in 2009 the Gomel oblast will launch several rape oil production facilities in the Buda-Koshelevo region, Rechitsa and Gomel. Around Br2 billion will be assigned for this purpose.
