Rostelecom Sets Foot in New Markets in Asia
OREANDA-NEWS On 04 September was announced, that Russia’s national telecom carrier – made its presence visible at ITU TELECOM ASIA 2008 Exhibition and Forum held in Bangkok, Thailand, at the IMPACT Challenger Exhibition and Convention Center, 2-5 September 2008.
In a presentation made at the show Rostelecom representative highlighted various aspects of the Company international business, in particular new promising opportunities offered to telecom market players by Transit Europe-Asia or TEA project.
“Our Company makes its entrance to new Asian transit traffic markets at the largest telecom show in Asia leveraging our key competitive advantage – our own powerful transcontinental transport network,”- stressed Rostelecom CEO Konstantin Solodukhin. “The network ensures protected Europe-Asia route, enabling transmission of huge traffic volumes and opening new opportunities for direct ties with telecom operators, ISPs and other telecom services providers.”
Cross-border links and high-speed circuits in Asia and Europe, as well as footprints at major international traffic exchanges have secured for the Company its leading position in the international traffic marketplace and allow it to successfully offer its resources to other Russian companies targeting international telecom market.
Asia's largest international telecom show ITU TELECOM ASIA 2008 is organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and provides a showfloor for latest achievements and innovations of world’s telecom operators, service providers, equipment and software vendors in ICT: from broadband or IP-enabled services, to TV and video, mobile and wireless technologies, 3G and next-generation networks, satellites, etc.
Rostelecom is aggressively enhancing its international activities in various areas. Currently the Company is a party to 25 international cable systems and has interworking relationship with 600 international and domestic fixed line and mobile operators worldwide. Rostelecom is a Member of ITU and member of the Board of Operators of the Regional Commonwealth in the field of Communications (RCC); and also participates in a number of other international organizations, like International Cable Protection Committee (ICPC).
