OREANDA-NEWS. September 03, 2008. The International Finance Corporation is at present ready to invest around EUR65 million in Belarus, Deputy Economy Minister of Belarus Andrei Tur told a session of the International Affairs and CIS Relations Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly.

At the session the commission decided to recommend that the House of Representatives should ratify the agreement between the government of Belarus and the International Finance Corporation on an IFC representative office in Belarus.

Andrei Tur remarked, the opening of the IFC office is a landmark event for Belarus and will contribute to attracting foreign investments. “Once the IFC is somewhere, foreign investments are channelled there right away,” he said. “The opening of a representative office is a sign for other international financial institutions to enter the Belarusian market,” added the Deputy Economy Minister.
