SOCAR Faced No Export Oil in August 2008
OREANDA-NEWS. September 2, 2008. For Jan-Aug 2008 State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) exported only 13.48 million tons of oil via various routes as it could not export via any of routes in August.
The SOCAR Department of Marketing & Economic Operations (DMEO) informs that for the last eight months the Company exported 12,454,386.4 tons via Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline, 782,133.7 tons via Baku-Novorossiysk (northern route) pipeline, 245,751.5 tons via Baku-Batumi railway. Export via the Baku-Supsa route for Jan-Aug period was not conducted. Baku-Supsa pipeline was stopped for repairs and resumption of its operation was scheduled for June, but the pipeline was stopped again because of the events in Georgia as it happened towards Baku-Batumi direction. The export via BTC was not conducted because of the fire occurred on it.
In July it was exported 2.935 million tons via BTC and 83,666 tons via Baku-Novorossiysk. Export via Baku-Batumi pipeline was not conducted last month.
For comparison: in 2007 BTC pipe exported 6.534 million tons of SOCAR oil and 21.75 million tons of AIOC (Azerbaijan International Operating Company) oil, Baku-Novorossiysk pipe 1.228 million tons of SOCAR oil and 999,983 tons of AIOC oil, Baku-Batumi route 221,258 of SOCAR oil and 4.4 million of AIOC oil. Only AIOC oil (49,174 tons) was exported via Baku-Supsa pipe last year.
