Baltika Breweries Joined Social Charter of Russian Business
OREANDA-NEWS. On 02 September 2008 was announced, that Baltika Breweries joined the Social Charter of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
The Social Charter of Russian Business (RSPP) is a system of principles and directions for potential business contribution to social development. The Social Charter was adopted at the XIV Congress of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs on November 16, 2004. At present, the Union brings together more than 200 of the leading Russian companies in the financial, banking, extractive (oil, gas, nickel, aluminum, etc.) and FMCG industries.
Vice-President HR & Corporate Affairs of Baltika Breweries Daniil Briman said: "Baltika Breweries is an enterprise with corporate responsibility. The position stated in the Social Charter of the Russian Business is similar to the Code of Honor of the Russian brewers, which our company already adheres to. Having joined the Charter, we further note the necessity for business participation in social development."
Throughout the company's history, the brewery has been investing in the development of major social areas. Within the framework of the national program "Baltika to Russia!" the company has been supporting projects in the fields of public health, culture, education, the environment, and it provides assistance to the unprotected levels of the population. A number of non-commercial organizations received support from Baltika during the past year, including: G.I. Turner Scientific Research Institute, Children's Polyclinic №63 of the Vyborgsky District, an orphanage in Pushkin and others. In total the brewery donated over 180 million rubles in important social projects in 2007.
On June 24, 2008, Baltika Breweries was inducted as an official member of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
The Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs is an all-Russian public organization representing the business interests. There are over 100 regional unions and associations representing the key sectors of economy, including: fuel and energy, mechanical engineering, financial services, and military-industrial complex, construction, chemical manufacture, light and food-processing industries, and a wide range of services. RSPP unites over 320,000 representatives of industrial, scientific, financial and commercial organizations across the Russian Federation. The enterprises presented in RSPP, produce in aggregate of about 70% of the Russian Federation’s gross national product (GNP).
Baltika Breweries is the largest producer of consumer goods in Russia and it has been the leader of the Russian beer market since 1996. The Company comprises 11 breweries across Russia, with a wide portfolio of over 40 brands, including famous trademarks like Baltika, Nevskoe, Yarpivo, Arsenalnoe, Tuborg, and Carlsberg. The company employs more than 12,000 people.
