Number of Inventors in Ukraine Decreased by 20 Times since 1991
OREANDA-NEWS. On August 28, 2008 Volodymyr Polokhalo, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Science and Education, held the Presentation of the White Book "Intellectual Property in the Innovation Economy of Ukraine", reported the Official website http://portal.rada.gov.ua.
The White Book was prepared by the Committee on Science and Education within the scope of implementation of the Guidelines of the Committee hearings "Protection of Intellectual Property Rights in Ukraine: Issues of Legislative Support and Enforcement". The book includes arranged analytical data in the field of intellectual property and innovation activity in the independent Ukraine.
"Publication of the White Book aims at elimination of the gap in informing of the society about the field of intellectual property and innovation activity in Ukraine, and promulgation of official documents of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, central and local executive bodies, the Accounting Chamber, Control and Revision Office, law enforcement and judicial bodies of Ukraine, documents that report progress in the field of intellectual property", - stated V. Polokhalo, Chairman of the Committee on Science and Education.
According to the attendants of the meeting, since 1991 the number of inventors and innovators in Ukraine has decreased by 20 times. On the contrary, the number of enterprises and scientific institutions that suspended inventive and innovative activity has increased.
The attendants of the presentation deem necessary to establish a central executive body in charge of legal protection of intellectual property that should deal with the objects of industrial property right: inventions, useful models, industrial samples, trade marks; objects of copyright and related rights: literary works, computer programs, works of art, databases, etc.
