OREANDA-NEWS. On August 23, 2008 Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko has empowered Ministry of Agrarian Policy within two days to hold an inspection of all the elevators. The Head of Government has addressed with such an initiative during a meeting into the issues of further improvement of grain market functioning.

According to Yulia Tymoshenko in the course of such a check-up issues of functioning of elevators have to be found out. Prime Minister of Ukraine stressed that today the Government receives an information concerning facts of sabotaging while receiving grain from villagers. “Elevators are an instrument of pressure on villagers. They don’t take grain from villagers in order to make them sell it at a reduced price,” Yulia Tymoshenko emphasized.

Besides, the head of Government announced about the need to use sanctions to the elevators which don’t take grain today and at the facts of the revealed abuses to hand materials over to the Prosecutor’s.

In addition Yulia Tymoshenko has commissioned the Ministry of Agrarian Policy to immediately open a “hotline” for the agricultural enterprises’ workers which would provide with on-line information about the elevators which refuse to take the grain.
