OREANDA-NEWS. August 26, 2008.  The Government will alter financing of infant schools and educational establishments in the regions suffered from the nature disaster.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko announced that in the course of a meeting into the issues of first turn reconstruction and overhaul of educational establishments in a flood-hit zone and ensuring of their operation by the beginning of the school year. “During our nearest Government session we will change an order of financing of infant and secondary schools,” Yulia Tymoshenko emphasized.

The Head of Government informed that today, in the course of her working visit, she has studied the state of schools and kindergardens of Verkhovynsky area of Ivano-Frankivsk region and has ascertained that the existing order of their financing doesn’t afford holding large-scale overhaul works.

Yulia Tymoshenko has commissioned to create a common register of educational establishments situated in the zone of the natural disaster and within a week to make up a separate estimate for each of them for conducting major repairs, providing schools and kindergardens with furniture and equipment. “A special account will be open for every school and infant school and they will be able to independently use funds, allotted by the state,” Yulia Tymoshenko underlined.

Premier noted that the order of opening of accounts for educational establishments has been agreed with the Finance Ministry. Besides, the Head of Government noted that demand balance which the schools and infant schools will fail to use this year will be prolonged for the following year.

Moreover, Prime Minister has empowered to create a special commission with participation of representatives of central and local authorities which is to study the state of educational establishments and find out whether they are fit for exploitation. “If the commission comes to a conclusion that the state of schools and infant schools don’t comply with the norms, new educational establishments will be built on their site,” Yulia Tymoshenko stressed.
