S7 Airlines Expands Boundaries of Modern Art
OREANDA-NEWS. August 25, 2008. S7 Airlines, Russia’s largest air carrier by number of transported passengers on domestic routes, is partnering with the Exhibition of Modern Russian Art at Tolmachevo Airport in Novosibirsk, reported the press-centre of S7 Airlines.
The exhibition, which is being held as part of a project called “The Future Depends on You: New Rules,” will open on August 21 and continue through September 2, 2008.
S7 Airlines is the official airline of the project and will transport the organizers and guests to the venues of eight planned exhibitions.
Today’s airline passengers will find S7 Airlines well suited to the role of official airline of the project as it offers convenient travel between the various venues. The participation of S7 Airlines in the project shows that civil aviation is not just for business and leisure travel, but also for travel to and from interesting cultural events. Such travel is called art-tourism. The growth of art tourism has created opportunities to participate in several events of the world of culture and art in various cities in just one trip.
The “Future Depends on You: New Rules” All-Russian traveling art project is one of Russia’s largest exhibition projects of recent years. The project brings to the residents of Russia’s regions the works of today’s Russian artists, who are already represented in all the major museums of the world and at international biennales, exhibitions and fairs.
Unlike other cities, where collections are shown in city museums, in Novosibirsk 100 works of 21 artists will be shown at Tolmachevo Airport.
Tolmachevo Airport is not only the largest transit hub east of the Urals, connecting Europe and Asia, but also one of the key hubs of S7 Airlines, serving Russia’s largest network of domestic routes.
“Novosibirsk Airport is a most unusual venue for an exhibition. It is the first time that such a large artistic exhibition is being held at an airport in Russia. From the passenger’s point of view, the idea of turning an airport into an exhibition hall seems more than appropriate, because people spend a lot of time at airports. After checking in, our passengers will be able to browse works of art in a relaxed atmosphere while waiting for the boarding announcement, thus getting them in the mood for their trip,” said Vyacheslav Novikov, S7 Airlines’ General Representative at Tolmachevo Airport.
The exhibition will feature lectures, master-classes, film festivals, social gatherings and contests for regional artists. The venue for some of the events will be the comfortable S7 Airlines business lounge located in the domestic terminal of Tolmachevo Airport.
