EFCA Conducted Training for Its Support Center Lawyers in Shymkent
OREANDA-NEWS. August 18, 2008. Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia (EFCA) conducted a training for its Labor Migrant Support Center lawyers in Shymkent, Kazakhstan. The training was led by experienced trainer Mr. Vadim Nee, National Expert of the International Labor Organization, reported the press-centre of Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia.
Entitled National and International Legislation on Labor Migration, the training analyzed current national and international legislation on labor migration and focused on developing a common strategy for Legal Clinics working to protect labor migrants in Kazakhstan.
This training proved to be beneficial for the support center lawyers, both new and experienced, who were able to share information and exchange experiences. Other participants included lawyers from the International Organization for Migration in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan and several Uzbek NGO leaders who conduct research on Uzbek labor migrants returning from Kazakhstan.
Since 2006, EFCA has worked to build a network of support centers throughout Kazakhstan by working with local NGOs. The network of seven centers provides information and legal support to labor migrants arriving in Kazakhstan, mainly from neighboring Central Asian countries.
