According to the research of independent analytical Expert Grup, in 1995- 2007, the export to EU-15 has grown by 4.1 times, to CIS-West – by 1.1 times, CIS-Caucasus- by 3.2 times, to EU-10 (countries that have joined EU in 2004) – by 2.9 times and to EU-2 (Romania and Bulgaria) – by 1.9 times, respectively.

The total amount of the export to EU-15 made 26.5% of all Moldovan export, to EU-10 - 6.4% and to EU-2 - 17.8%, respectively. In general, in 2007, export to EU-27 accounted for 50.7% of the total Moldovan export. On the other hand, 45.2% of the total amount of goods in 2007 was imported from EU-27.

Between 1995 and 2007, the geographical structure of trade of Moldova has changed: if in 1995 Moldova mostly exported and imported goods to CIS markets (70% - import and 63% - export), in 2007, the situation has changed – 36% of import 36% and 41% of export, accordingly.

The first five EU countries where Moldova exports goods are: Romania, Italy, Germany, Poland and Britain -about 75% of all Moldovan export to EU states. At the same time, in 2007, Bulgaria and Austria, which were among the first five EU trading partners of Moldova in 1995, ranked 6th and 7th.

The largest increase of export volumes was registered to France (18 times), Poland (16 times), Italy (9 times) and UK (5.5 times). The record growth of Moldovan export was registered to Belgium - 91 times, although it was not an important trade partner of Moldova - only 1.7% of all export to EU. At the same time, export to neighbourhood countries has stagnated: (Lithuania - 3.8%) or significantly decreased (Hungary - by 11%, Latvia - 23% and Estonia - 33%).
