OREANDA-NEWS. August 18, 2008. The harvesting campaign in Ukraine approaches its completion. By operational data, as of August 15, all categories of economies gathered early grain crops and leguminous cultures on 95 percent of areas, 40,918.2 million of early grain crops and leguminous cultures have been thrashed, as reported with reference to the Agricultural Policy Ministry.

As it was noted, average yield makes up 34.6 centners/ha.

Harvesting of wheat has been completed on 97 percent of areas (of planned), 25,794.2 million tons of grain has been received. Barley was gathered on 97 percent of areas, 12,973 million tons of grain was thrashed. Rye was thrashed on 92 percent of areas, 946.6 thousand tons of grain was received. Harvesting of peas has been completed, 487.3 thousand tons of grain was thrashed.

Rape harvesting was carried out on 98 percent of areas (of the planned areas), 2,871.6 million tons of grain was thrashed.

Preparing of soil for sowing winter cultures was carried out on 5,702 thousand ha, that makes up 65 percent of the forecasted areas.
