As of June 30, 2008 it amounted to 9.92 leis per US 1. The main reasons that have affected the exchange rate are substantial increase in remittances from abroad and depreciation of USD dollar at the international currency market.

As the result of the continuing devaluation of USD, the share of transactions with dollar at the stock exchange market of Moldova in January-June 2008 has decreased by 10.2 percentage points.

At the same time, the share of transactions with the Russian rouble has significantly increased.
