OREANDA-NEWS. August 12, 2008. Rosenergoatom Concern is going to intensify its cooperation with WANO, Head of International Activities Department of Rosenergoatom Concern Anatoly Kirichenko said during the meeting of the Board of Directors of WANO (the World Association of Nuclear Operators) in London on Aug 5–8 2008.

Particularly, the Concern is going to keep pace with the nuclear renaissance that is taking place worldwide for the moment so as to be stronger and more efficient.

Rosenergoatom Concern nominated its representative for the post of WANO chairman for being able to implement its initiatives and for strengthening its positions at WANO.

Rosenergoatom Concern suggested enlarging its cooperation with WANO. Particularly, WANO might pay more attention to “human resources –personnel,” “know-how,” “capacity-resource-nuclear fuel-radioactive waste” programs.

The Russian side believes that the role of big nuclear companies – such as Rosenergoatom, Energoatom (Ukraine) , EDF (France) – at WANO must be enhanced. 

On behalf of Rosenergoatom Concern, Kirichenko suggested organizing a big international conference in Russia on the occasion of the 20th birthday of WANO.
