OREANDA-NEWS. On 12 August 2008 was announced, that Sibirtelecom OJSC and system integrator TekhnoServ A/C started the third, final, stage of implementation of the project for centralization of hardware-software systems of ‘Start’ automated billing systems.

The project was launched in 2007. Its main goal is to build a single hardware-software system using resources of the main and backup centre of data procession. This system has to provide efficient ‘Start’ BS for all 11 branches of Sibirtelecom OJSC. ‘Start’ BS is a technological automated system that provides efficient execution of main business processes of Sibirtelecom OJSC: based on the data of the automated billing system the services are sold, reporting and settlement documents for customers are formed, operation of maintenance departments is organized, the level of customer’s loyalty to Sibirtelecom OJSC is formed, etc.

This project implies expansion of resources of servers, disk arrays and terminal server, modernization of the data storage network (SAN) and file backup systems, the resources of the main and backup data processing centre will be combined using DWDM within a single corporate network. Results of project implementation will ensure high level of fault tolerance and minimization of time for restoration of ‘Start’ BS, will make it possible to optimize expenses for servicing the infrastructure, increase efficiency of IT resources management, to reasonably increase, if required, computational capability of the main and reserve data processing centres of Sibirtelecom OJSC.

It is planned to finish this project within 2008.
