OREANDA-NEWS. August 11, 2008. As it was informed in the press service of the Ministry of Economy and Trade, the prices for foodstuffs fell by 3.3% and for non-food – grew by 0.3%.

The growth of tariffs for services amounted to 0.7%. The decline in prices for the foodstuffs was due to seasonal decrease of prices for agricultural goods: fresh vegetables - by 24.6%, potatoes - 18.3%, fresh fruits - 17.1%, milk and dairy products -1.2%.

The prices for household appliances, footwear and coal have reduced by 0,2%. During the same period, the increase in prices for soft drinks - 6.9%, bee and honey - 3.9%, sausages - 2.3% was registered. Among non-food items the prices increased for: medicines -by 1%, detergents - 0.9% and building materials - 0.5%.

In July 2008, the tariffs increased for rental and dental services - 4.8%, potable water and sewage supply- 3.7% and public catering - 1.2%. Since the beginning of this year, inflation rate made 5.3% vs. 5% at the corresponding period of the last year.

Over the past 12 months, the increase in prices amounted to 13.4% and in July 2007- June 2006 – to 12%, respectively.
