OREANDA-NEWS. On August 07, 2008, at approx. 11:30 a.m., the port dispatcher office received a report that a small quantity of fuel was spilled off motor vessel “Green Snow” (flying under the flag of Bahamas) to the harbour waters while pumping fuel from one onboard fuel tank to another near Quay 12 (the territory under lease of AB Klaipeda Stevedoring Company (KLASCO), reported the press-centre of Klaipeda State Seaport.
 
The fuel spill spread alongside Quay 12.  At the moment fuel skimming operations are underway.  The operations are carried out by specialists of the Department of oil recovery and underwater operations of the Port Authority and the vessel “Sanitaras-13” of the company AB Klaipeda Stevedoring Company (KLASCO).  The pipe which caused the spill has been repaired and boom defence installed.
 
The incident was reported to the specialists of the Maritime Environmental Protection, who are identifying the extent of pollution and causes of the incident.
