OREANDA-NEWS. August 11, 2008. the Government of the Russian Federation approved the decision of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation for recalling the general contract for the construction of a small-capacity nuclear power plant and a floating nuclear power plant from Sevmash OJSC.

For the moment Sevmash is overloaded and must focus on federal military contracts. So, the project and the yet unused funds will be returned to the owner. The construction will be continued by Baltiysky Zavod OJSC (St.Petersburg)

The owner of the project, Rosenergoatom Concern, and Baltiysky Zavod have already coordinated the preliminary contractual terms. The contract is expected to be signed shortly.

The new site for the floating NPP will be selected by Oct 2008.
