Disaster in Ukraine to Have No Impact on GDP Growth in 2008
OREANDA-NEWS. August 08, 2008. Economics Minister Bohdan Danylyshyn is convinced that the natural disaster and the flood in the state's western regions will not have an impact on the general level of the GDP growth in 2008, he told a press conference in Kyiv.
"The flood and those catastrophic consequences that we had in Ukraine's western regions and the GDP index in total annual calculation will not have a substantial impact. In other words, their influence will be insignificant or actually there will be no impact", B. Danylyshyn said.
He reminded that the Government endorsed a forecast level of the real GDP growth till late 2008 at 6.8 percent level, and an analysis of the situation in the first half of the year and taking into consideration the trends forecasted till the end of 2008 do not give grounds for reviewing this index.
