OREANDA-NEWS. On 07 August 2008 was announced, that IJSC Ingosstrakh has paid more than RUR 9mln to ZAO AR Carton under the policy of Deutsche Leasing Vostok as insurance indemnity for the breakdown of a section of Rapida, a sheet-fed offset press.

OJSC Ingosstrakh entered an insurance contract with the leasing company on June 21, 2005. The co-insurant was ZAO AR Carton (Timasevsk, Krasnodar Region) which leased Rapida, an offset press, valued Euro 2,470,000, from ZAO Deutsche Leasing Vostok for 5 years. The policy covered such risks as fire, thunderbolt, explosion of gas, natural calamities, damage by water, theft involving illegal infiltration and robbery, damage by combustion products as the result of a fire, fall of a piloted aircraft, and breakdown. The insurance covers the whole term of the leasing contract.

The breakdown of the expensive equipment resulted from an error made by the operator of the press. To determine the root cause of the breakdown Ingosstrakh engaged an expert from ZAO R&D Institute of Polygraph Machinery. The accident was classified as an insured event. The press was repaired by the repair team of the manufacturer (KBA). Ingosstrakh and Deutsche Leasing Vostok have cooperated since 2000. According to Dmitry Yakovlev, Head of the Small and Medium Businesses Claim Handling Section of IJSC Ingosstrakh, the insurance of expensive high-precision equipment is more attractive when the insurance policy contains a provision on insurance of unforeseen breakdown of insured equipment, which, of course, gives confidence to all parties to a leasing deal.
