Agriculture Will Become National Idea in Ukraine
OREANDA-NEWS. August 05, 2008. Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko believes that time has come in Ukraine to make agriculture a national idea. She stated this today at the meeting on regulation of the grain market situation. “I believe in it, and I know that we are able to do it,” Yulia Tymoshenko emphasized.
The Head of Government noted that to date Ukraine shows record crop capacity during its independence – 34.1 centner per hectare and this is not a final showing yet.
Moreover, the PM congratulated 14 regions of the country which had harvested above 1 million tons of grain. Thus, Yulia Tymoshenko told that the Odesa and Dnipropetrovsk regions had harvested 3.4 and 3 million tons of grain accordingly, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Mykolayiv regions – from 2.8 to 2.4 million tons, Kirovohrad and Kherson regions –about 2 million tons, Poltava, Cherkasy, Donetsk regions and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea – 1.8 million tons, Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Luhansk regions – 1.2-1.3 million tons.
“I think, such results say that labour of grain-growers, farmers, agrarians today is so much efficient that we can achieve such excellent results,” the Head of Government noted.
