OREANDA-NEWS. On August 01, 2008 Flight SU571 aviated the first group of Russian athletes to Beijing. The women's volleyball team as well as the Russian oarmanship team are on board, reported the press-centre of Aeroflot.

The transportation of more than 2,000 athletes, functionaries of the official delegation and invited guests along with their luggage takes place on regular scheduled flights as well as on additionally arranged flights.

These Olympic flights to Beijing will be accomplished until the 28th August. In September Aeroflot will fly the athletes – handicapped and official delegates – to the Paralympic games, which take place in Beijing as well.

Traditionally, Aeroflot will be nominated as the official airline of the Olympic team and its delegations by the Russian Olympic committee.
