OREANDA-NEWS. On 05 August 2008 was announced, that the Forum of New Silk Road Initiative will take place in Almaty on 2-4 September. The heads of municipalities of the major cities of Asian continent, representatives of business community and academic circles of Russia, Europe, Central Asia and China and other developing countries will convene in southern capital of Kazakhstan.

The "New Silk Road" Initiative was launched by the UNDP as a major opportunity for Kazakhstan, Central Asian countries and China to upgrade the level of their relationship and regional cooperation in the sphere of trade, investment and tourism. Rich cultural and economic legacy of exchange in the Middle Age Silk Road spirit serves as a major platform for the growth input potential in the region that could subsequently become an attractive center of the globalizing world.
