On August 04, 2008 The Head of State, Alexander Lukashenko, has approved the decision of the council of the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for Social Support for the Gifted School and University Students, reported the Official website http://president.gov.by.

In accordance with this document, 1,394 school and university students will be rewarded. These include the winners of the nation-wide Olympiad in general-education subjects, national conferences, contests and tournaments.

Monetary prizes with the awarding of badges of the laureates of the special fund have been conferred on three students of Belarusian State University in recognition of their victory in the International Collegiate Programming Contest.

Following the decision of the council of the Fund, monetary support has been provided for the collegiate semiconductor laser research laboratory of Belarusian State University with a view to improving its material, technical, information and methodological base.
