Government Investigates Kalynivskyi Market Situation
OREANDA-NEWS. On August 04, 2008 Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko initiated to create a government commission on investigation of situation at the Kalynivskyi market flooded as a result of the disaster. She disclosed this during her meeting with businessmen of the market which took place within the framework of her working trip to the Chernivtsi region.
The PM told that the commission would include deputy ministers of the relevant profile ministries, representatives of the Control-Inspection Office, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Ecology and market representatives. The Prime Minister informed that the creation of such commission would be envisaged by a relevant resolution of the Government which is to be adopted during the Government sitting.
According to Yulia Tymoshenko, the Commission is to work through amendments to the current Ukrainian legislation aimed at the protection of entrepreneurs who work at the Ukrainian markets “We’ll create not only for the Kalynivskyi market but for the whole Ukraine a reliable legal basis, according to which you can work,” the Head of Government stressed addressing businessmen of the Kalynivskyi market. The PM also told that the Government would make a request to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to consider urgently such amendments to legislation.
Besides, the Prime Minister noted that the mentioned government commission would consider the activity of market management. According to the Head of Government, the commission will also elaborate a draft decision on regulating the Kalynivskyi market situation which is to be proposed to the city council of Chernivtsi for approval. Yulia Tymoshenko promised to take under personal control implementation of all Government decisions on the Kalynivskyi market.
The Head of Government told that the government commission, in addition to the elaboration of legal basis, would study the flood situation which had struck the market and also consider illegal building up which could affect the river-bed. Yulia Tymoshenko noted that if such illegal building ups are revealed they would be subject to demolition.
At the same time the Prime Minister of Ukraine told that the Government during its sitting on Wednesday would consider an issue on paying compensation to the businessmen of market whose property had been damaged in the flood. According to her, the sum of such compensation will amount to 5 thousand UAH.
