Production in Test Mode Commenced in New Plant of Preses Nams
OREANDA-NEWS. On July 31, 2008 the new-built book production plant of JSC Ventspils nafta subsidiary JSC Preses nams located in Jansili, Silakrogs at the Ropazi civil parish, Riga district is launched and printing works are commenced in test mode, reported the press-centre of Ventspils nafta.
Only the function of book sheet printing remains in the previous book production object of JSC Preses nams in Riga, Balasta dambis, as all the remaining processes – folding, collecting, sewing, cutting, and gluing – are already performed in the new plant in Jansili.
Along with launching the new book production plant, technological book production park of JSC Preses nams is completely restored, thereby maintaining company’s leading positions in the area of high quality book production in the Baltics and North Europe, as well as becoming one of 300 major book production companies worldwide. The latest technologies and devices (sheet-fed printing presses, rotary machines, folding, sewing and cutting devices, automatic hardbound and soft-cover book production lines and other technology) produced by such global leaders in engineering industry as Heidelberg, MAN Roland, Muller Martini, Sigloch-Kolbus, Polar, Agfa, Fuji, etc. are used in production process of JSC Preses nams.
The new technologies and devices allow producing books in smaller minimum or larger maximum book format and enables issuing very thin books – even from 2.5 to 3 millimetres. Two new types of book production are also offered: with integral cover and hardbound books without sewing. Another new development in book production is the option of gluing in three different book marks.
Order works are delivered by use of internet, and the customer can examine them in the same way – therefore the distance to the customer no longer matters. The widest post-printing processing possibilities in folding, sewing, cutting, creasing, die-cutting, crimping, foil stamping, UV varnishing, binding of different types of books, and production of book casings ensures creation of final production according to the wishes of the customer.
The first orders that were experimentally implemented in the new book production plant of JSC Preses nams were received from the Russian publisher AST-Press, and these are so-called high-quality editions – two books by William Shakespear. Their production process reflects an essential part of book printing options of JSC Preses nams – golden foil press stamping, fragmentray UV varnish and mat laminating was used in design of the books.
The production area of the plant Jansili of JSC Preses nams, which is located in three blocks, reaches 7000 square meters, and 13.5 million lats have been invested into the plant. In case of necessity, the capacity of book printing at the new plant can reach even double volumes in the nearest years: from the current 250,000–350,000 books per month up to 500,000–700,000 books per month after equipment is completely installed in the plant.
The strategic development plans of JSC Preses nams include completing construction of another new printing plant – the newspaper and journal production plant in the territory of the industrial park of the airport Riga.
