Tymoshenko Promises to Fully Implement Anti-Flood Program
OREANDA-NEWS. August 01, 2008. Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko promised to fully implement an anti-flood program adopted in 2005.
"We will raise the dam of the Dniester PSP and will stabilize other dams. And we will implement our own program, which has been endorsed still in 2005", the Head of Government noted.
According to Y. Tymoshenko complete implementation of the program endorsed in 2005 will enable protecting western regions from the floods, but its financing was suspended after resignation of Yulia Tymoshenko's Cabinet.
The Prime Minister emphasized in the Interview Time program on the Fifth TV channel on Thursday that voting of amendments and addenda to the State Budget in the Parliament will make it possible to come from advance payments to complete payment of damages to residents of the flood-hit regions.
She noted that urgency of compensation payments directly depends on quality of work of local authorities. According to the Prime Minister, the government simplified a mechanism of damage fixation, having delegated maximum authorities to local communities. "Further only the local authorities, we cannot calculate damages in Kyiv", she noted.
The Prime Minister explained that out of UAH 5,802 billion (USD 1/UAH 4.85), by which the Parliament increased the Budget's expenditure side, UAH 4,402 billion will be directed to mitigate the accident consequences, and another UAH 1.4 billion will be sent to the agroindustiral complex to finance purchases to be made by the Agrarian Fund and for repayment of interest rates on credits received by agrarians.
