On 1 August 2008 was announced, that Transneft negotiates a possibility of South Korea to participate in financing of construction of the Russian oil pipeline “Eastern Siberia – Pacific Ocean” (ESPO) for oil export to Asia. This problem has been handled on July 28, 2008 during the meeting of the Nikolai Tokarev, “Transneft’s” president and the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Russian Federation Mr. Lee Kyu Hyung. “Matters of the possible mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of energetics including Korea’s participation in financing of the Asian export oil pipeline were the subject of the negotiations”, - vice-president of the Oil Transporting JSC “Transneft”, Mikhail Barkov said in his interview for Reuters.
