On 31 July 2008 was announced, that the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders of OAO NOVATEK resolved to introduce amendments to the Company’s Charter  and General Policy of the Board of Directors  due to the increase in number of members of the Board of Directors to nine (9) members.

This decision will establish conditions for increasing the number of independent directors working on the Company’s Board, and is consistent with the Company’s ongoing efforts to adopt corporate governance best practices.
