Kazakhtelecom Informs on Development of Internet Services Market
OREANDA-NEWS. On July 28, 2008 Kazakhtelecom JSC (Astana), shares of which are traded in the official KASE list of Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) of category "A", provided KASE with the press release as follows, reported the press-centre of KASE:
847,426 people used services of Kazakhtelecom JSC in the first half of 2008, including 456,260 wide band Internet subscribers. For reference: 333,444 and 57,858 people used services of Kazakhtelecom JSC in the same period of 2007.
Indicators grew thanks to modernization and development of telecommunications network, reduction of company tariffs on the Internet services and speeding up of access to the Internet, launching mass advertisement campaigns and active promotion of services, and development of dealer net. Implementation of the mentioned above aided to enhance interest to the Internet from the side of users, shaping demand for the Internet services.
It is noteworthy that in the first half of 2008 Kazakhtelecom JSC reduced tariffs: on hosting; wide band access to the Internet for legal entities and individuals, engaged in business without establishing a legal entity; for ISP-providers.
Additionally Megaline Start, Megaline Hit, Megaline Light capacities have been increased up to 256 Kbyteps. Access speed to/from internal resources of the company (IP-addresses, registered as Kazakhtelecom's in RIPE) Megaline Start, Megaline Hit, Megaline Light, Megaline Box on inbound and outbound channels has been increased up to 512 Kbyteps. At that, Megaline inbound/outbound traffic is rated at zero.
These actions must help to increase pricing availability of the Internet services for population, and develop Kazakhstan Internet. This in turn will help to reduce load on external channels of Kazakhtelecom JSC and cut down costs of the Internet services.
