OREANDA-NEWS. July 29, 2008. Sugar production will make not less than 1,5 million tons in Ukraine in 2008, Deputy Agricultural Policy Minister Serhiy Melnyk told a briefing.

"Taking into consideration 900 thousand tons of carryover storage, a need of two million tons will be ensured for the state", Deputy Minister noted. According to him, today a considerable growth of sugar beet against the previous year has been observed.

The internal sugar market capacity is estimated approximately at two million tons a year.
