OREANDA-NEWS. On July 29, 2008 following performance in 1H 2008, DTEK has retained leading positions in coal and energy-generating industries of Ukraine, reported the press-centre of SCM.

The company accounts for 27,8% in the national steam coal output, 27.3% in thermal generation, and 6,5% in electricity distribution.
 
Positive dynamics was registered by all major performance indicators of the coal production unit of DTEK. Steam coal output grew by 9,2% to 7,0m tonnes.

Coal production at DTEK enterprises went up by 14,8% (8,7m tonnes) year on year through realization of investment programmes, optimization of business-process, improvements in operations, and adoption of latest technologies including roof bolting and frame and roof bolting.

DTEK incorporated two coal enrichment plants in October 2007 - Dobropolskaya and Oktyabrskaya. These changes in organization of the company and more demanding requirements of the market focused on production of higher quality fuel helped boost enrichment of run-of-mine coal and concentrate production in 1H 2008 by 73,9% (to 5,9m tonnes) and 75,3% to (to 4,2m tonnes) year on year respectively.

Vostokenergo, power generating business of Donbass Fuel-Energy Company, supplied around 8,9bn kWh of electricity to the national power grid (state-run company Energorynok). This is 0,7% more year on year. Capacity ratio in the period across the company made 55,1%.

Electricity supplies by power distribution businesses of DTEK (Service-Invest and PES-Energougol) stepped up noticeably in the 1H 2008 to 7,3bn kWh which is 1,9 bn kWh. more year on year. The share of purchase on wholesale electricity market in the 1H 2008 grew by 1,8% to 6,5% of the total volume of commodity electricity supplied to the market of Ukraine.
