Technological Station of Machines for Viticulture Opened in Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. On July 25, 2008 The first technological station of machines (STM) in the viticulture sector was inaugurated in Chisinau. Thus, at the moment, the total number of Moldova s STMs stands at 204. The station opened is the second specialized in the fruit growing sector.
The STM inaugurated includes several tractors and equipment necessary for viticulture works. The concerned STM is a property of the "Sauron" Ltd and the opening ceremony was attended by Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin.
Vladimir Voronin said that at the moment, the sate undertakes all the possible efforts to support the viticulture sector which is a strategic one for Moldova. At the same time, the president highlighted the need to enlarge the vineyard plantations. Presently, 10,000 hectares of new vineyards are planned annually within a national programme.
Voronin said that new and new vinayeards are being planted which benefic for the national economy. Thus, wine production is on the ups and, respectively, Moldova s image improves at the international stage through wine s export.
Agriculture and Food Minister Anatolie Gorodenco said that this STM's technical equipment was bought through the 2KR Project, implemented in Moldova since 2001 with the Japanese government s support in order to provide farmers with the necessary equipment.
Another 50 Technological Stations of Machines are to be created in Moldova, of which three will be specialized in the viticulture sector.
