OREANDA-NEWS. July 28, 2008. The head of the delegation, the deputy chief editor of the newspaper Yekaterina Abelskaya said: “Belarus has specific plans to build its own nuclear power plant. Our people need specific reliable information about the work of a nuclear power plant. So, we have decided to visit Smolensk NPP as an exemplary NPP.”

The guests were interested in all aspects of the plant’s work: how much electricity it generates, the cost value of the electricity produced by the plant, its safety systems, the possibility of radioactive emissions from the plant, how it stores its spent nuclear fuel, how much its employees are paid for their work.

The specialists of the Information Center of Smolensk NPP organized an excursion for the guests. They told them about the process of electricity production and showed them the work of the operators.

The guests learned all they wanted to know.
