Modern Two-Masted Schooner Сomes to Klaipeda Port
OREANDA-NEWS. On July 24, 2008 The representatives of German Lithuanian community together with the Ambassador of Lithuania in Germany Evaldas Ignatavicius came to Klaipeda port renovated schooner „Flying Dutchman“, reported the press-centre of Klaipeda port.
A luxurious modern two-masted schooner comes to Cruise vessel terminal (AB „Klaipedos laivu remontas“ operated quay No 28-33) with the representatives of German Lithuanian community together with the Ambassador of Lithuania in Germany Evaldas Ignatavicius.
The length of the schooner is 40 m and the beam 6,5, flying the Netherlands flag and was built in 1903 for the fishing of herring. After long journeys at sea in order to save traditional sailing by sailing boats for the future generations, this schooner was reconstructed and rebuilt in 2004, turning it to a modern two-masted schooner.
