Dairy Farms in Belarus Should Meet European Standards
OREANDA-NEWS. July 24, 2008. Dairy farms in Belarus should meet European standards, said President Alexander Lukashenko when visiting to the Kamenets district, the visit being part of his tour of the Brest Region, reported the Official website http://president.gov.by.
The Belarusian leader intends to inspect the situation on the ground in all parts of Belarus and be given an update on the implementation of the State Rural Revival Programme 2005-2010 and his earlier instructions.
On his arrival to the Kamenets district, the President inspected the ongoing harvest campaign in JSC Vidomlyanskoye and in the Brest Region in general. The Head of State said he believed the campaign should be speeded up, including the wheat rolling activities.
The President reminded the local administration on the responsibility they had for the quality of the harvest and for the timely start of the sowing campaign. According to the Head of State, poor quality of the harvest and untimely start of the sowing campaign would be equal to crimes.
The President also focused on the issues of development of both production and social infrastructure in rural areas. Alexander Lukashenko visited the agro-town of Vidoml, inspected the progress in the work aimed at extending gas supply networks to the rural areas in this region and in the country on the whole. In cases when it is too expensive and unpromising to extend gas supply networks to rural areas, local fuels should be used as much as possible. “There should be an individual approach to this issue in every agricultural enterprise,” the Head of State said.
The President was informed that, in accordance with the State Rural Revival Programme, 221 agro-towns were due to be established in the Brest Region by the end of the year 2010. Work was carried out in 105 population centres, which had been converted into agro-towns, on enhancing social infrastructure. Social standards were met in education, healthcare, culture, trade and provision of utilities services.
As for the Kamenets district, seven agro-towns were built here in 2005-2007, over Br 2,4 billion were utilised to improve the social and production infrastructure.
