OREANDA-NEWS. On July 23, 2008 The Cabinet and the Gazprom reached an agreement on determining the formula of a gas price for Ukraine in 2009, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko informed.

"We have found approaches to price formation for natural gas in 2009. I can say that we have found a compromise on a concept of price formation for 2009", Tymoshenko said, while commenting on yesterday's negotiations with Gazprom Chairman Alexey Miller.

In the near future, the Gazprom will complete negotiations with Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan and following that, Tymoshenko considers, Ukraine and Russia will be able to finally form a gas price for Ukraine according to a concept agreed.

Tymoshenko stated that an increase of a price for natural gas for Ukraine to the market price will be carried out gradually within several years.

"There will be no stresses and a shock. I think that it is constructive work of the two governments of Ukraine and Russia and the NJSC NaftoGaz and the Gazprom", the said.

A price of gas supply to Ukraine for 2008 has been fixed at USD 179,5 per one thousand cu m.
