Vladivostok Joins Yandex’s Local Network Program
OREANDA-NEWS. July 24, 2008. Vladivostok joins Yandex’s Local Network Program. Now all services the company provides for its users in this city become local. With Vladivostok ISPs joining the Local Network Program, web users will be able to access all Yandex services at a high page loading speed and local rates.
Yandex set up its server equipment in this city and started free traffic exchange with local Internet providers. For the moment, two Vladivostok providers, PortTelecom and AllianceTelecom, have joined the program. Web users in Vladivostok, who enjoy Yandex’s traffic-consuming file, blog, photo and video hosting services (Disk, Narod, Fotki and Video), will be first to benefit from launching the company’s Local Network Program in this city.
The Local Network Program was launched last year. This project is Yandex’s solution to the Internet access problem in Russia’s regions: federal and local traffic in the regions have different payment rates and connection speed. In the framework of this project Yandex rents dedicated channels to large cities in every federal region, thus becoming a local web resource for the majority of web users in Russia.
Vladivostok is the sixth’s city to join the program after Ekaterinburg, Moscow, Novosibirsk, Samara and Saint Petersburg. The company also has its server equipment set up in Kiev and in Frankfurt.
