OREANDA-NEWS. On 23 July 2008 was announced, that a five-star 17-storey hotel complex with 184 rooms is to be raised on Sadovo-Samotyochnaya Street in Moscow. The construction of the hotel complex was approved by the public council under Moscow City Mayor Yuri Luzhkov involved in forming the urban, architectural and artistic design of Moscow on July 18.

“A building plot is in the immediate locality of Sadovo-Samotyochnaya Street, Sukharevskaya Overhead Road, Olimpysky Avenue and Tsvetnoy Boulevard. There is a building of the Soviet development on the place where a school stood before but it isn’t a historic structure,” Aleksander Kuzmin, head architect of Moscow, said.

The total area of the hotel complex will be 23,500 sq m including a 16,000sq m building above ground level and a 7,500sq m underground structure.

The complex is to be located on the 0.29ha site. A car park for 50 vehicles is also stipulated by the project. “A land and visual analysis has been performed specially for the project. It indicated that a building with more than 17 storeys isn’t possible to go up on this place,” Mr Kuzmin noted.

The building will have a pyramid shape. Its architectural concept is being elaborated by the famous American architect Frank Gehry.
