OREANDA-NEWS. July 21, 2008. According to updated information, Ukrainian agrarians received 8 million tons grain from 2,573 million sawn areas. Average crop capacity is 31 centners per hectare, Agrarian Minister Yuriy Melnyk told a press-conference in Kyiv.

Grain milling exceeded 1 million tons in some regions, while in Crimea, Mykolayiv and Odesa regions (South Ukraine) this index is twice as much, he noted.

They yielded wheat on 1,230 million ha (18% area), threshed 3,9 million tons. Barley was harvested on 260,7 thousand ha (29%) and threshed - 3,905 million tons.
