Investment Business of VTB Group Continues to Hire Top Managers
OREANDA-NEWS. On July 17, 2008 The investment business of the VTB Group has announced the hire of more top managers for its team to further strengthen VTB’s positions in key sectors of business development, reported the press-centre of VTB Bank.
Elena Khisamova has been appointed as the Head of ECM within the Global Banking division of the Investment business of the VTB Group. Ms Khisamova is responsible for the Bank’s activities in equity capital markets, including public offerings of the Russian companies, listing both locally and internationally, as well as private offerings and block trades.
Ms. Khisamova has participated in a number of landmark public and private offerings including the IPOs of Globaltrans (raising US470m), M.Video (US 365m), VTB (US 8bn), PIK Group (US 1.9bn), Polimetall (US 682m), Raspadskaya (US 317m), Magnit (US 368m), Severstal-Avto (US 39m), Irkut Corporation (US 127m).
Elena has participated in the SPOs of such Russian companies as Magnit (US 487m), Severstal (US 1.1 bn), OGK-5 (US 459m), Seventh Continent (US 241m), as well as in Nutritek’s private placement, as a brief sampling of her recent work.
Sergey Volk has been appointed a Director of Global Banking, and Head of Transport & Infrastructure. He has had extensive and successful experience in major international and Russian companies. Among other activities, he has participated in corporate finance deals involving transport & infrastructure companies, as well as in structured funding, optimization and hedging solutions—linked to rates, currencies and commodities—for key corporate and financial clients in Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan.
Mr. Volk has successfully completed the private placement of 15% of shares for the TransContainer company. Previously, he directed the preparation and successful launch of a synchronization project for power grids involving 7 CIS & Baltic States and 11 European power companies. Prior to that, he originated and structured a number of large-scale energy derivatives deals in the US and then in Europe.
Both Elena Khisamova and Sergey Volk will report to Mikhail Butrin, Head of Global Banking of the Investment business of the VTB Group.
Sergey Baranov has been appointed the Global Head of Business Applications Support and Development and is responsible for the setup of business applications for the Investment business of the VTB Group globally. Mr. Baranov is based in the Moscow headquarters and is also co-CIO for Moscow, in addition to his worldwide responsibilities.
Sergey Baranov has over 10 years’ experience in senior technology roles with major international and Russian banks and has a considerable expertise in setting up business applications in the financial sector.
Mr. Baranov reports to Angela Heward, Global Chief Information Officer.
Biographical Data:
Elena Khisamova joined the Investment Business of the VTB Group from Deutsche Bank in Moscow from the position of Vice President, ECM. Previously, she worked in the same department of the Russian investment company United Financial Group (UFG). Ms Khisamova came to UFG in 2005 from the Irkut Corporation, Russia’s aviation company where she was head of the corporate finance department.
At Irku,t Ms. Khisamova was responsible for equity transactions on their behalf including the execution of IPO, ADR program, M&A transactions and also debt securities issues. Prior to 2002, Ms. Khisamova worked on project of privatization and debt securities issues of telecom companies of Tatarstan Republic (Russian Federation).
Elena Khisamova graduated with honors from Kazan State University (Tatarstan, Russian Federation) with a degree in Economics, in 1999.
Sergey Volk joined the Investment Business of the VTB Group from UBS Investment Bank, where he had worked since 2005. With UBS in London, he led the marketing of structured funding and hedging solutions. Thereafter, since 2007 with UBS Investment Banking in Moscow, he has been engaged as an investment banker focused on the transport and infrastructure sector.
Prior to UBS, Mr. Volk worked with RAO UES where he directed the preparation and successful launch of a power grids’ synchronization project involving power companies in Europe and CIS countries. He was actively involved with London private equity advisory boutique specializing in green and renewable energy. Earlier Mr. Volk worked for 5 years at Williams Energy Marketing and Trading, originating and structuring a number of large-scale energy derivatives deals in the US and in Europe.
Sergey Volk holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin, USA, and a degree in Electronic Engineering from Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
Sergey Baranov joined the Investment Business of the VTB Group from Deutsche Bank in Moscow where he had been employed since 1998 in the dual capacity of Head of IT for group of companies, and Vice-president , Emerging markets cluster manager (Ukraine , Kazakhstan, Turkey, South Africa, Cyprus). Previously, he was senior engineer, Production Support, at ING Bank in Moscow. From 1996-97, he was Head of IT/ Acting deputy CFO, with Slavianski Industrial Bank in Moscow.
Mr. Baranov graduated with honors from the State Bauman Technical University in Moscow with the specialization in engineering (1994); he holds Bachelor’s degree from Institute of World Economics and Information Technology in Moscow (1996); Mr. Baranov is currently proceeding with his MBA studies in Finance (2007-2009).
